Born and raised in Port Arthur, Texas a musically cultural town on the border of Louisiana and Texas and a hotbed of good times zydeco music. Zog took his swampadelic style of music to Austin, Tx. in 1989 and began performing at the roadhouses and festivals of Central Texas. He has a deep fried understanding of roots music and plays ardently in an attempt to funkify the good folks with fun, upbeat music with a positive message. Put on your alligator shoes and crawfish shuffle to our funky zydeco grooves.

 

 

Pepe Meloncon

Pepe Meloncon hails from Odessa, Tx. has been playing in Austin's zydeco bands for 12 years. He is a classically trained pianist who got a taste of the high energy of zydeco and hasn't stopped squeezing the squeezebox since. He has a great feel for funk, latin, zydeco and other cultural styles.

Rickey is a recent New Orleans arrival here in Austin and hails from a family steeped in the history of New Orleans funk. An amazing drummer and vocalist, if you catch him on a gig with his brother "Stormin" Norman you might even hear them throw down an original funky rap. Catch him laying' it down for Dr. Zog and Funky Zydeco, and also watch for him on gigs with his uncle Cyril and Tribe 13.

Gary is a naturalized Texan of 20 years, by way of Chicago and then Little Rock. After arriving in Austin there was no turning back, partially due to parole restrictions. Gary loves animals, usually grilled. He doesn't have any kids but he's seen them around.

Gary has staged from Kerrville to Nashville, vocals and bass, all styles of music. Local original artists Gary has backed and recorded with include Marilyn Rucker, Drew Tichnell, Casey Just, Chelle Murrey, Nicole Janson and many others ...

 

David K
guitar and vocals

Born and raised in Missouri, it wasn't long before David took his unique style of soulful blues velvet vocals and his shredding guitar playing to Austin, Texas.

David started learning guitar and singing at seventeen with blues and soul records alike.
Once in Austin, he started a band with former Cobras bass player, Alex Napier.

David has also backed some of the most influential blues artist of the last three decades including Otis Rush and his hero Albert Collins. He has shared the stage with the likes of Denny Freeman, Charlie Sexton, and Omar and The Howlers and many others...
